Being Your Best

Has it ever frustrated you that sometimes you are your ‘best self’ quite effortlessly in some situations and then in others you are not and you don’t know why?
Do you wish you knew how you could get the best out of each of your team members?
Is it possible for you to get into the best physical shape of your life?
Is it possible for you to work harder and smarter, learn new skills and practice using them?
Is it possible for you to become the smartest, fittest, good humoured, hardest working, most compassionate, loving person that you’ve ever been?

The answer to the first 4 questions will probably be “Yes”, whilst the answer to the final question could frequently be “No”.

If I changed the wording of the final question to “Would you like to become the smartest, fittest good humoured, hardest working, most compassionate, loving person that you’ve ever been” then the high probability is that you would answer “Yes”.

 

In this case, you have just taken a huge step forwards to Being Your Best. Let’s not kid ourselves though, completing the journey to becoming your Best is not going to be easy. It will take time because there will be barriers along the way to deflect you from your planned journey. The way forward is as simple as the basic Continuous Improvement methodology:

It is essential to remember that this is an iterative process. There is no quick fix. You will need to travel around this cycle a number of times to reach your goal of Being Your Best.

In planning your journey, you will need to ask yourself and respond to the following questions:

  • What does the concept of “Being Your Best” mean to you?
  • What is the inevitable influence of different personality types?
  • What are the likely different types of barriers and blockers you will encounter?
  • What would you personally like to work on improving about your current self?

 

It’s a long journey to Being Your Best, but it’s completely obtainable, and totally worth the effort.
