Mary Berry watches our CEO play cricket!

June 21st 2017 – Seevent National 60+ Championship

Bucks over 60s entertained Berkshire at Penn Cricket Club in the Seevent National Championship. They were surprisingly joined by Mary Berry and her husband who has played for Penn in the past. The couple also live in Penn.

Our CEO, Neville Pritchard, played for Bucks and scored 25 runs from 11 balls in the final few overs. This was not enough as Berkshire won the game with one ball to spare in a really close and exciting game.

Nevertheless…the tea was splendid!

Mary Berry has been into baking from a young age and used to help make the teas at her local cricket club. Yet, surprisingly, she started her career at a Bath electricity board showroom! She would drive to customer’s houses to show them how to use their oven, usually by making a Victoria sponge!

Mary is best known for her role as a judge on the Great British Bake Off alongside Paul Hollywood. In September 2016, she announced that she would be leaving the show following its move from BBC Two to Channel 4. As of February 2017 she has hosted her own mini-series on BBC Two called ‘Mary Berry Everyday’.
